Born and raised in Japan. 40+ countries traveled. Living between Japan and Thailand.
I grew up in Japan. For as long as I can remember, I have been curious about the world beyond it — and over the years that curiosity has taken me to more than forty countries.
English has been the steady thread through all of it. It is the bridge that turned strangers into friends, and the language I still reach for whenever I am far from home.
Living in Mexico for a while made me fall for Spanish — the rhythm of the language, and the open, sun-warm personalities of the people who speak it.
Taiwan keeps pulling me back. I have visited many times, and the quiet kindness of the people there has stayed with me long after every trip.
In France, I met people who, from the other side of the world, love Japanese anime and culture with a sincerity that moved me more than I expected.
Today I split my life between Japan and Thailand. My partner is Thai.
Why this site exists
To every friend around the world who ever told me they love Japan — this site is for you. I wanted to share the fun, strange, and quietly beautiful side of the Japanese language that textbooks do not get to. That is how Nihongo Fun began.
